Patrick Allemand’s initiative undoubtedly has the merit of not leaving this issue filed under the category of controversies that blame others and especially those deemed “without follow-up.” However, it is known that budgetary constraints will make costly commitments like this one difficult.

The first aspect is the land because while everyone knows what they do not want, opinions and interests are no longer the same when it comes to making decisions.
Is it too much to imagine that a prison is not the argument for yet another right/left divide but the goal of a common will to resolve a problem that has been on the table for a few decades?
“Based on recent statements by the mayor of Nice suggesting concerns about the State abandoning the project to build a new detention center in Nice, I have decided to relaunch the issue by writing to the Minister of Justice, Christiane Taubira, and inviting her to visit the Nice prison to witness its dilapidation and danger.
This prison is a disgrace to France, and I point directly at Christian Estrosi’s responsibility for never committing the means to advance this file during the 10 years of right-wing government, even when it was about to be completed under Elisabeth Guigou’s tenure as Minister of Justice.”
Patrick Allemand, Departmental Secretary of the PS
