Every Friday in May, the departmental museum of Asian Arts offers a new workshop titled “Relaxation and Flexibility” led by Lydia Petetin.
The class takes place at the tea pavilion, a privileged location bordered by the waters of the lake, which will be specially arranged for the occasion. It allows stressed executives, wellness enthusiasts, both young and old, to discover a relaxation and flexibility practice that blends Shintaïdo, Hatha Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.
Shintaïdo
A peaceful martial art, Shintaïdo was created in Japan in the 1960s to meet the needs of people living in modern societies. Its goal is to make the body more flexible and stretched, to release tensions, to develop musculature, to enhance breathing, to relieve stress, and to improve health.
Hatha Yoga
This postural practice, which relies on breathing, is very well-known in the West. It helps develop good mental and physical health in a serene and constraint-free atmosphere.
Yoga Nidra
Nidra is a Sanskrit word meaning sleep. Based on breathing exercises, visualization, and relaxation, Yoga Nidra is a technique aimed at improving sleep. According to Swami Satyamanda: “one hour of practice is equivalent to the physical and physiological recovery of four hours of deep sleep.”
