Nice’s summer of 2015 promises to be truly artistic.

The success of “Nice 2013. A Summer for Matisse,” the museums’ programming by the City for the summer of 2015 will be dedicated to the Promenade des Anglais and the evocation of the remarkable resonance of this prominent site of Nice’s urbanism on the imagination and sensitivity of writers, musicians, and filmmakers.

promenade_unesco.jpg This choice is not unrelated to the initiative undertaken by the Mayor for the candidacy of the Promenade des Anglais to be listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, once again entrusting Jean-Jacques Aillagon with the general commissioner of the cultural event.

For Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice: “In 2015, a new international exhibition will be presented in all the city’s museums. With this new exhibition, we prove once again that Nice is a city of culture in its own right.”

“This summer cultural event will be dedicated, this time, to the Promenade des Anglais. The history of tourism, beachside urbanism and architecture, and the history of Nice have enabled us to better understand what could constitute the ‘outstanding universal value’ of Nice’s urbanism, determined so originally at the dawn of the 18th and 19th centuries by a new form of leisure: winter climatic tourism. This is how a truly new city was born alongside the old town,” expressed Jean-Jacques Aillagon.

Here are the titles of the thematic exhibitions and venues which we will revisit at the appropriate time.
