The vocational campuses group together secondary and higher education institutions, offering initial or continuing training. They are built around a sector of excellence corresponding to a national or regional economic challenge supported by the community and businesses. Among the 14 national campuses, Nice has been awarded the Tourism, Hospitality, and Catering campus.
The Vocational and Qualifications Campuses contribute to supporting territorial economic and social development policies through training. Their dynamic should facilitate the integration of young people into employment. They can also engage in synergy with regional competitiveness clusters.
The vocational campuses bring together professional training stakeholders around an economic sector. They can seek synergies between vocational and general high schools, apprenticeship training centers, training organizations, higher education institutions, research laboratories, and companies. Bringing together in one place and/or as a network secondary and higher education establishments, they unite, within a strengthened partnership, companies, research laboratories, and sports and cultural associations. They include at least one local public education establishment.
The special links with local businesses facilitate the reception of students for their on-the-job training and the continuous training of employees. They also promote the creation of prototypes by providing technical platforms available to the campus. It is a place conducive to technological innovation in all its forms and the transfer of skills.
To encourage student paths leading to higher education diplomas, the Vocational and Qualifications Campuses facilitate mixed pathways, allowing young people to adopt different statuses throughout their training: school-based, apprenticeship, or even professional training intern. They also play an important role in providing information on the possibilities offered by the validation of acquired experience (VAE). Thus, the Vocational and Qualifications Campuses can include apprentice training centers (CFA) and continuing education organizations. Among the objectives of the Campuses is the development of the international dimension of their training.
