A support ceremony for the hostages of the October 7, 2023 attack was held today at the Palais des Rois Sardes in Nice. This gathering brought together numerous local figures and associations to express their solidarity with the hostages still in captivity and their families.

This September 13 marks the 343rd day since the seizure of the Israeli hostages by Hamas on October 7, 2023. A few weeks away from the first anniversary of this terrorist attack, the Department of Alpes-Maritimes and certain associations wanted to express their support for the hostages and their families.

We do not forget you

The ceremony began with the reading of the names of the 70 presumed living hostages to date. Here is an excerpt:

Among the guests were Moshe Or and Alon Nimrodi, visiting Nice. These two men share a commonality: each of them has a close relative held captive by Hamas.

The son of Alon Nimrodi, Tamir, is a young soldier just 19 years old. He was captured by Hamas terrorists on October 7 while he was in his base near the Erez border crossing. He had just gone to bed in the early morning when the attack took place.

On the same day, Moshe Or’s brother, Avitan, was present at the Nova festival with his girlfriend. While he was trying to hide, he was captured by Hamas terrorists. Although his girlfriend was released, Avinatan, aged 30, remains still in captivity.

Their presence at the ceremony holds a special significance for the President of the Department of Alpes-Maritimes. Moved, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy expressed his support with heartfelt solidarity:

“It is with great emotion that I welcome today the families of the hostages Tamir Nimrodi and Avinatan Or. These two innocents were snatched from the affection of their families, and we will continue to hope for a favorable outcome for them.

This afternoon, I wish to express all my support to Alon Nimrodi and Moshe Or in this ordeal. I also renew my call for the release of all the hostages. Let us not forget them and bring them home!โ€

The union of the anthems

Other local figures also spoke to show their support, such as Franck Israel, President of the Cรดte dโ€™Azur-Corse Regional Consistory, and ร‰ric Ciotti, President of the Finance Commission of the Department of Alpes-Maritimes.

The ceremony concluded on an emotional note when, on stage, a violinist performed both the Israeli anthem and La Marseillaise, symbolizing the unity and solidarity between the two nations.
