The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc is the only 100% female off-road Rally Raid in the world. Unique in its kind, since 1990, it has brought together more than 300 women aged 18 to 65 and from over 30 different nationalities each year in the Moroccan desert.
The starting location, Nice, will host the “gazelles” who will leave the Mediterranean shores to head towards the Moroccan desert and reach the Atlantic coast at Essaouira on April 2nd.
Since its inception, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc has developed a different vision of car racing: no speed, no GPS, but old-school navigation, exclusively off-road, for a return to the roots of Adventure.
Without any selection other than their determination, regardless of their age, background, nationality, or experience, the participants of this Rally, known as “Gazelles,” come to experience a unique competition behind the wheel of a 4×4, a Crossover, a Quad, a truck, or a motorbike:
“It is in losing their bearings that the Gazelles find their true values,” states Dominique Serra, founder and CEO of the event.
The ranking is based on: the addition of kilometers (difference between the kilometers covered and the direct route kilometers) and penalties (converted into kilometers) for any unvalidated checkpoints or calls for mechanical assistance.
