For their final match of the Veolia Trophy organized in Lyon, OGC Nice was defeated by a score of two to zero against the Glasgow Rangers.
Patrick Vieira decided to rotate his squad for this match to assess the qualities of his entire group. Consequently, the usual starters were on the bench, giving way to younger players from the club’s academy (Ben Seghir, Mestrallet, Wade, Brazao).
During the first half, the Nice team held their ground against the Scots and played with ease.
Ultimately, the young squad from the Gym faltered at the very end of the first half, and Defoe managed to beat Cardinale with a goal (40th minute).
In the second half, the starters made their appearance, and Alexis Claude-Maurice came onto the field for the first time since the beginning of the preparation.
However, this was not enough to change the course of the game, and the Rangers sealed the outcome at the very end of the match with a goal from Barjonas (90th minute).
The Gym’s next friendly match will take place on Saturday, July 25th, on the pitch of Standard Liรจge.
