Since Wednesday, a curfew for minors under the age of thirteen has been implemented in several neighborhoods of Nice.
Between 11 PM and 6 AM, young people under 13 will no longer be allowed to go out alone in eleven locations in Nice. This curfew was activated on Wednesday, May 1st and will last all summer until August 31.
“At thirteen, the place for young people is at home at 11 PM,” says Christian Estrosi. This measure, implemented by the Mayor of Nice and his municipal team, aims to combat delinquency by mainly targeting drug trafficking, disturbances, and to protect minors from risky situations.
Neighborhoods and Special Restrictions for Minors
The measure has been set in 11 areas of the city, including Las Planas, Trachel/South Station, Downtown/Old Nice, Pasteur, Saint-Roch, Bon Voyage, LโAriane, La Madeleine, and Les Moulins.
In the Les Moulins neighborhood, it is even stricter, applying to minors under 16. Christian Estrosi highlights that “out of 1000 arrests for drug trafficking last year, 52% involved minors under sixteen .”
