It’s a pleasant surprise for the Nice University Hospital (CHU) on Thursday, August 28th, when it discovers the ranking of the best public hospitals in France in the weekly magazine Le Point. Reaching the 8th place, the hospital has moved up 4 places compared to last year. Thanks to a questionnaire sent to all hospitals and the analysis of a common database for all French healthcare establishments, Le Point was able to establish its ranking for the 12th consecutive year. In total, 821 hospitals were scrutinized. Thus, fifty medical and surgical specialties were considered to establish the ranking, compared to 40 in 2007.
First place in shoulder surgery
The gold medal goes to the Toulouse University Hospital, which ties with that of Lille. Nevertheless, the hospital establishments in Nice (Saint Roch, Cimiez, lโArchet, Pasteur, and Tende) are recognized for their excellence in activities such as surgery. They achieve first place in shoulder surgery, and second place for obesity and gallbladder surgery. If you need to have your appendix or abdomen operated on, know that the hospital is ranked in ninth place for these two operations. This should reassure some patients! In any case, the reputation of Nice hospitals is known worldwide: remember, Angelina Jolie chose the Lenval Foundation to give birth to her twins in mid-July!
Le Point also acknowledged other medical specialties, ranked as the best on a national level. From kidney and salivary gland cancer to pulmonology, and including hip prostheses or even proctology, our CHU consistently ranks among the top 50. To top it all off, the 2008 ranking recognized its efforts in the fight against nosocomial infections, awarding it the maximum rating of 4 stars. The Nice hospital establishment can be proud of its achievements. Let’s see how much more it can impress us next year!
