Nice: The Jolly Boys concert at Nikaïa

Latest News

On April 29th, at 7 PM, The Jolly Boys (with Sade) will perform at the Palais Nikaïa.

The Jolly Boys began playing in the early 1940s in Port Antonio, Jamaica, and to this day remain the most prominent figures and torchbearers of the Jamaican folk musical style known as Mento. In the 1950s, with the arrival of new hotels at Frenchman’s Cove, Trident Castle, and Dragon Bay, the band, originally called The Navy Island Swamp Boys, changed its name to the more tourist-friendly The Jolly Boys.

In Port Antonio, people remember the famous Jolly Boys of that era as the house band that entertained tourists at the Trident Hotel and played until the early hours at the Hollywood-style parties hosted by Errol Flynn at his local property.

In 2010, after more than sixty years of activity, The Jolly Boys are still around, reincarnated once again for today’s generation.
