On Friday, May 27 at 8:30 PM, the Mercury cinema is hosting a screening and debate on the film “Memories of Murder” by Bong Joon-Ho. It is organized by the association “Cinema Without Borders” as part of the South Korean Film Festival.
Moreover, the Mercury’s schedule includes two new films:
“Ha Ha Ha” by Hong Sangsoo, which won the “Un Certain Regard” prize in 2010, keeping up with the current Cannes Festival. Since then, the film has never been shown in Nice…
“Essential Killing,” which is none other than the latest feature film by Jerzy Skolimowski, starring Emmanuelle Seigner and Vincent Gallo. It was awarded the Volpi Cup for best actor at the latest Venice Film Festival, and the film received the Special Jury Prize.
Four films are also continuously showing:
“Where the Night Goes,” the latest from Martin Provost, director of “Sรฉraphine,” reunites him with his favorite actress, Yolande Moreau.
“Flash of Genius,” a film noir by Josรฉ Alcala, showcases another outstanding actress, Catherine Frot, alongside Karim Seghair and Marie Raynal.
“Norwegian Wood” by Tran Anh Hung, the author of “The Scent of Green Papaya.” His latest film was presented at the Venice Film Festival in 2010.
“Stone,” an American film featuring the president of the 2011 Cannes Festival, Robert De Niro, alongside the excellent Edward Norton and the beautiful Milla Jovovich, by John Curran.
“The Eagle” by Kevin Macdonald is also part of the program.
