The gourmet hall of the Gare du Sud was supposed to reopen its doors on July 10, after a year of renovations. However, technical problems have forced the establishment to postpone its reopening date to July 17.
The reopening of the Gare du Sud will be delayed a little longer and will not take place this evening. The date had been announced for several months, closely watched by the opposition and eagerly awaited by the public. Yet, after a year of work, the IERA group, which took over the hall, announced on July 10 that they will need to wait another week.
The new manager announced a new date. Join us on July 17 at 6 PM to discover the redesigned space centered around the “Mediterraneo” concept, in the Libรฉration district of Nice. The reasons for the delay? The group mentions “technical problems” beyond their control that “prevent them from opening in good conditions for the public.”
A refrigeration unit problem
The setback appears to be mechanical; the motor of a refrigeration unit has failed, as the Italian restaurant group shared with France Bleu Azur. Without a functional refrigeration system, ensuring the proper preservation of food products is impossible.
Therefore, a little more patience will be needed to savor “Mediterranean flavors highlighting popular, quality, convivial cuisine, accessible to everyone, within an elegant space, cool in summer and warm in winter,” as shared by the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, last June. The repairs are expected to take only a week.
