Nice: Traffic altered this Friday for the drone show

Latest News

Concerts, drones, and fireworks: a big festive evening is planned for this Friday, June 6, in Nice. Road closures are scheduled from 6:30 PM. Public transportation will be free.

The evening of Friday, June 6 will be marked by a significant security arrangement and numerous traffic restrictions in the center of Nice. From 6:30 PM, several roads will be closed to traffic, mainly around the Promenade des Anglais and Old Nice.

Affected areas: a section of the Promenade des Anglais, between Honoré-Sauvan Street and Rauba Capeù Quay, in both directions. Félix-Faure Avenue, Masséna Square, and Verdun Avenue will also be closed. A detour is planned via Lycée Street. The same measure applies to Max-Gallo Avenue and a part of Jean-Jaurès Avenue, up to Flandres-Dunkerque Crossroad. However, Crotti Descent will allow access to Old Nice, with double-direction access until 9:30 PM.

Drones, music, and expected crowd

Nice is preparing to host a drone show starting at 10:45 PM, as part of the United Nations Ocean Conference. This luminous show will feature 2025 drones flying over the Baie des Anges. The recommended viewpoint: between Albert I Garden and Ponchettes Beach.

Before that, DJs Cassius and Agoria will entertain the evening from 8:30 PM, from the roof of the Ponchettes. For two hours, they will alternate iconic tracks from their repertoires, before performing a back-to-back (B2B) set where both DJs will mix together.

To ensure the smooth running of the spectacle, a section of the Promenade des Anglais will also be closed to pedestrians, from 10:15 PM to 11 PM. The south sidewalk will be sealed off from 6 PM.

Public parking remains open but their access times are modified. Entry will be closed from 6:30 PM for the Sulzer, Ruhl-Méridien, and Masséna parking lots. Exiting will be possible after midnight or 2 AM, depending on the site.

Lastly, all Lignes d’Azur transport – buses and trams – will be free. Their frequency will be increased until Sunday, June 8. The city encourages visitors to favor public transportation or travel by foot or bicycle.
