Lovers of the “carreau” (a perfect shot in pétanque) and the “têton” (a marginal shot) will have a field day as, within a span of a few days, the greatest champions from the world of pétanque will compete, clashing their boules on the Niçois courts. On the azure fields, one could encounter Quintais, Suchaud, Lacroix, Fazzino, Foyot, and others like Radnic, Passot, whose sole purpose is the final victory on the square of honor at the Place Masséna.
The Masters and Europétanque 2009, which is the fourth leg of a tour consisting of seven stages with the participation of the 24 best world players divided into eight teams of three, including a local team, are announced as major events equipped with an exceptional sports field. 1,500 competitors and 35,000 spectators are expected for this international event.
Finally, for the first time in the history of Pétanque, the European Confederation, the highest continental federal authority, is organizing a European Nations Championship. This first edition will take place in Nice on July 24, 25, and 26, 2009, and will gather the 100 most prestigious international players.
