Nice Ultimed: the Run Exhibition, the final warm-up before the start of the race

Latest News

On Sunday, April 29, the maxi-multihulls will make final adjustments during a 100-nautical-mile (approximately 160 km) exhibition run along the coasts of the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur region.

Meet at the Port at 9 a.m. to greet the skippers and their crews before the departure at 11:30 a.m., visible from the Promenade des Anglais.

On the Promenade des Anglais, visitors have already come in large numbers to explore the Discovery Expo set inside the immense “cathedral tent,” offering a complete immersion into the world of Ultimate trimarans: wide-screen immersion, museum-like presentations of sailors, their boats, and crews, presentation of rare objects, and a glimpse behind the scenes of the event with the staging of the Race Center…

On the sporting side, the crews of Thomas Coville, Francis Joyon, and Yves Le Blรฉvec will once again be able to measure themselves this Sunday during the Exhibition Run, with a start line anchored as close to the shore as possible, in front of Rauba Capeรน, a real warm-up three days before the start of the Nice UltiMed main race.

The Ultimes will set off on a route of about twenty miles. They will first round a buoy near Nice Airport, to stay visible from the Promenade, then head towards Cap Ferrat and Monaco before returning to Nice.

This will be the last outing before the grand Nice UltiMed race, which will take the giants towards Corsica, Sardinia, the Balearic Islands, and the coast of the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur region.

From May 1 to 5, a Nautical Stadium will be set up a few meters from the Promenade des Anglais right in front of the spectators. The regattas will be commented on live: light sailing competitions with Jean-Pierre Dick’s “Easy to Fly,” the “One Fly,” and Olympic series. A real sailing festival in the Mediterranean with the participation of young people from the Nice clubs and the PACA Sailing League.

The finish line for the giant trimarans’ Race will be the same as the starting line, as close to the land as possible. Meet at Rauba Capeรน to celebrate the winner of Nice UltiMed, whose arrival is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, in the afternoon.

Finally, on Sunday, May 6th, more than one hundred and fifty boats are scheduled to celebrate the Ultimes during the Nautical Parade. Sailboats from Nice clubs and yachtsmen, heritage boats (including Nice’s pointus), motorboats, but also kayaks, Stand Up Paddleboards, windsurf boards… The true highlight of the show, the giant trimarans and all the vessels will parade along the Promenade des Anglais from the airport to the tip of Rauba-Capeรน. A beautiful nautical event to elegantly conclude this 1st edition of Nice UltiMed!
