The Nice volleyball players bounced back well on Friday night, after receiving a thrashing from Tours last week, by dominating Tourcoing three sets to one (25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19). NVB moves up in the rankings and distances itself a little more from the relegation zone.

Although it wasn’t a perfect match, the Nice Volley Ball players at least had the merit of bringing a lovely victory to their supporters on Friday night at the Palmeira hall against a Tourcoing team that held an honorable fourth place in the Ligue A rankings. It was hard to believe NVB coach Slobodan Lozencic when he claimed the previous week that the heavy defeat against Tours at home would serve as a foundation for tackling the second half of the championship.

Service and Block as Main Weapons

While not all problems were erased, they at least managed to show another side, a more determined attitude. This time, Nice took control of the game with much less waste than the previous week, particularly in service. Another area that went well was the block. One can especially note the excellent performance of Seychellois Rodney Ah Kong in this exercise. And if you add this fact to the good performances in attack by Alex Damiao, Fabian Birau, and Raphaรซl Mrozek, for example, you can understand why the coach is delighted: “I am extremely happy with the way my players reacted. I still consider this performance a hard-fought victory since after the second set we felt a slight drop in concentration. But I think it was due to a certain pressure. However, we still made way too many direct errors. We will have to fix that,” he tempers.

โ€œNo Point in Being Choosy…โ€

Admittedly, there was a noticeable drop in concentration on the part of the Nice players during the second set. But they bounced back afterwards, eventually winning three sets to one against a Tourcoing team forced to take more and more risks. In short, a nice birthday present for NVB captain Rรฉmy Kraska, who was celebrating his 28th birthday. “We are not going to be picky either. It remains a great start to the second half of the championship,” reassures the coach.

This promising start mainly allows NVB to breathe in relation to the relegation zone, moving up to ninth place in the rankings, and who knows, perhaps even look upwards…
