After three consecutive victories, NVB traveled to Hérault to face the reigning champion and current 8th in Ligue A.
A few days after their qualification against Ajaccio (Ligue B) in the French Cup semi-final, Nice Volley Ball faced a heavyweight in the championship this Saturday: the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club Volley-Ball.
Against the reigning champions, Rafael Redwitz’s players seemed physically outmatched. The Hérault team brought intensity from the start of the match, easily taking the first set 25-18. The Niçois responded by stealing the second set 23-25 but failed to turn the game around as MHSCV regained control of the match (25-23) before definitively defeating the Niçois in the last set (25-13).
With this defeat, NVB’s dream of playoffs has definitively faded. However, the evening isn’t completely dark for the club from the French Riviera, as they secured their stay in the first division with Cambrai‘s loss to Sète. Come what may, Nice Volley Ball will be in Ligue A next season!
