Nice volleyball won the derby against Cannes 3-0.

Latest News

Traveling to the Palais des Victoires in Cannes La Bocca, NVB was eager to continue their exceptional run in the championship. The Nice team ventured into hostile territory in front of 1,506 spectators who came in full force to cheer.

A derby compels both teams to aim to beat their rivals from the Azure coast during the season. This 2018-2019 season has seen the yellow and blue team overwhelmingly outperform Cannes. In the first match on the seventh day, Mladen Kasic’s men had thrashed the Cannes Dragons with a sweeping score of 3 sets to 0. They repeated this performance, and Cannes did not win any sets this season during the derby.

The second set could have changed the course of the match. After easily winning the first set, the Eagles had to fight hard to break the tie. At 24 all, both teams fought valiantly. It was through an attack by Robin Overbeeke that Nice was able to celebrate a thrilling second set victory (29-31).

With yet another disappointment, Cannes becomes the bottom team in the French championship, with only six points in fifteen rounds. Nice Volleyball is in contrasting form, with a fifth consecutive victory. They climb to fourth place ahead of Poitiers, who will play tonight.

A podium finish is more than feasible

The first place seems destined for Tours, but as the season progresses, the other two podium spots could become a target for the Nice players.

Will the yellow and blue team achieve a sixth consecutive victory? To find out, join us on Friday, February 15 at 8 PM at the Giamarchi hall against Sète, the twelfth in Ligue A.
