This Thursday, November 23, a new 100% electric bus line was inaugurated in the presence of Christian Estrosi, Gaël Nofri, and Jean-Marc Giaume, connecting the Reserve district to Old Nice.
To more effectively meet user demand, the 100% electric line 98 will be put into service on December 4. It will serve the Old Nice district to the Reserve via the Port.
The route will cover Quai Napoléon 1er as well as Rauba Capeu and the Cours Saleya, which previously did not have shuttle service. Thus, a connection will be possible between the tramway stops Garibaldi/Le Château and Port Lympia.
This will also allow for a connection with the tramway stops Jean Médecin and Durandy, other bus lines, and park-and-ride facilities.
Impact on Other Lines
This new line modifies the route of line 38. It, which usually served the stops from the Résidence des Baumettes to the Reserve, is being shortened by nearly half of its route to make room for this new line.
It will no longer go beyond the level of the Durandy tram stop to let line 98 handle the rest. Thus, line 38 will connect the Baumettes to Jean-Médecin via the Musicians’ district and the Wilson and Durandy squares.
This change will allow for much more frequent buses on line 98. They will run every 15 minutes, from 6:28 am to 9:06 pm, in a very busy area that required more extensive transport provision. This innovation will ultimately allow the needs of users on these lines to be met.
