Nice West under construction: what will change starting in 2025

Latest News

Yesterday, Christian Estrosi met with more than 400 residents from the neighborhoods of Caucade, Fabron, and Sainte-Marguerite. It was an opportunity to take stock of the transformations underway and announce future projects. Between road renovations, new public facilities, and ecological initiatives, the municipality is shaping a moving territory.

The meeting was held in a packed room. More than 400 people responded to the invitation from the Mayor of Nice, who is also the President of the Mรฉtropole and the Deputy President of the Region. This gathering, organized as part of the initiative “Your Turn to Speak!“, allowed the residents of Caucade, Fabron, and Sainte-Marguerite to get informed and exchange ideas about the projects undertaken by the city.

Christian Estrosi highlighted the evolution of the neighborhoods in the west of the city. โ€œIn the west of our city, your neighborhoods combine quality of life, a residential spirit, local vitality, and commitment to a particular Niรงoise way of living,โ€ he stated. He also recalled the efforts made in recent years: renovated schools, modernized reception facilities, redone roads, and expanded green spaces. Between 2020 and 2026, nearly 27 million euros will have been invested in these three neighborhoods.

Security has also been enhanced, with 244 cameras installed, 27 call terminals, and 11 loudspeakers. 98 fines have been issued for incivilities, and 264 arrests have been made.

Numerous projects launched or underway

Several major projects are currently underway or planned for this year. The construction of the Haliotis 2 station, launched in May, will mark a step in the ecological transition of the territory. This future wastewater treatment plant will treat 60% of the Mรฉtropole’s wastewater, eliminate 90% of microplastics, and produce renewable energy. The delivery is scheduled between 2026 and 2030.

Another transformation underway: the Grand Park of the Plaine du Var. Spanning 30 hectares, it will become the largest urban park in Nice. 60% of the ground will be renaturalized. The southern part, open since 2020, will be complemented by the northern entrance, which will be completed at the end of June 2025. The entire project is expected to be finalized by 2030.

Local investments are not overlooked. The new school canteen at the Magnolias school, built using eco-construction methods, will be delivered by the start of the 2025 school year. It will be able to accommodate up to 660 diners. A new sports platform will also be built at Les Eucalyptus, on the roof of the future Super U. It will offer basketball, handball, an athletics track, and suitable changing rooms.

The roadwork includes 27,000 mยฒ of roads and sidewalks, along axes such as chemin de Terron, avenue des Freesias, and avenue de la Lanterne. The redesign of the Cappatti-Corniche Fleurie intersection is also planned by the end of 2025, to improve traffic flow and safety.

Other projects complete this program: reopening of avenue Joseph Durandy after a landslide, new connection between Antoine-Martin and Sainte-Marguerite, creation of an Actiโ€™Santรฉ loop in Fabron, and rehabilitation of the mini-golf in Carol de Roumanie Park, in summer 2026.

The municipality emphasizes a participatory approach. The mini-golf project, for example, originated from a citizen consultation. This process is set to continue in the months ahead.

A momentum set to continue

The meeting concluded on a note of exchange. Residents had the chance to ask questions directly to the elected officials. The mayor reminded everyone that this meeting was not an endpoint, but a step.

The residents of the west can now follow the progress of these projects and continue to have their voices heard, particularly through the city’s participatory platform. The next step: the opening of the large park to the north and the completion of the roadworks by the end of 2025.
