Philipe Noyer, the founder of Nicetunesradio, presented his radio station yesterday afternoon in his apartment in Nice, on Avenue de la Lanterne. A radio station for all lovers of “good music.”

Philipe Noyer has two passions in life: music and radio.

It was his godfather who introduced him to music in 1968. His godfather was indeed one of the first fans of the Beatles. He listened to them from the very beginning, in bars, in 1963. That’s where he met legendary artists like Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, Ringo Starr when they were still unknown.

A godfather who gave him, therefore, the musical groove in the 1960s. At 8 years old, Philipe was listening to the Beatles. It’s music that never left him. It became “a friend to me,” he would say.

He worked as a DJ for 8 years (1979-1987) on the French Riviera. He developed a passion for different genres such as rock, pop-rock, funk, but also reggae…

In 1981, the emergence of pirate radio gave Philipe new opportunities to share his passion with a wider audience.

From that date, in parallel with his DJ activity, he also worked as an FM radio host. A job he continued until 1985. He also became a sales representative for a record label.

Even though his career later took him away from music and radio for a few years, Philipe always wanted to return.

The arrival of the internet and the democratization of digital technologies gave him the means to realize his dream: to launch his own online radio station to play quality music in all styles.

He listens to radio stations

American, Canadian, Irish, Australian, English. “They’re all the same,” says Philipe. He explains: “On FM radio stations, you have three days of stock, a maximum of 500 tracks, that they play in loops.”

Philipe himself has a library of over 5200 albums, or approximately 66,000 different tracks. He does not want to limit himself to the FM radio standards or hits.

With Nicetunesradio.com, Philipe wants to rekindle the taste for good music from the 60s to the 90s.

An engaged community radio

Nicetunesradio is an independent radio station designed to stay free. It was launched via a non-profit association (law of 1901). Philipe wants to play the music he loves without constraints.
He doesn’t want to please advertisers, record labels, or anyone else.

He wants to share unknown album hits with those who haven’t discovered them yet.

A strong commitment

A cause close to his heart is that of sick children. Philipe declares that he donates all profits from his association to the Lenval Foundation in Nice.

Joining the association “Les Amis de Nicetunesradio.com” allows for a donation of โ‚ฌ10 to โ‚ฌ250 per month, depending on the chosen status: friend (โ‚ฌ10/month); sponsor (โ‚ฌ20/month), founder (โ‚ฌ50/month), benefactor (โ‚ฌ100/month), and patron (โ‚ฌ250/month). Or for a more modest sum: โ‚ฌ15/year (or โ‚ฌ1.2 per month, the equivalent of an espresso coffee to support this foundation).

Advertising on the webradio will not exceed 60 seconds per hour of listening, and on the website, the banners will be limited to 300ร—250 pixels.

Developing partnerships

His partner, who joined him since last February 1st, is a former artistic director of the NRJ group. He has a world-class address book in the groups. He mentions Bill Champlin (the former singer of Chicago), Tony Oโ€™malley (the pianist of Kokomo), Paul Carrack (the pianist of Eric Clapton), John McGuire (the guitarist of George Benson), and also Michael McDonald, currently on tour at the Olympia in Paris. These are groups he hopes to bring to the French Riviera.

An increasing number of listeners

Started on February 1st, Nicetunesradio sees its number of listeners growing day by day. In just 7 days, the radio station already has more than 600 listeners, says Philipe. A first step for this web radio.

Nicetunesradio is above all for the love Philipe has for his city, “one of the most beautiful in the world,” where he has lived since 1979, having traveled “to the four corners of the world,” as he declares.

Nicetunesradio is also the story of a play on words “beautiful melody.” He tries to have a beautiful melody from beginning to end.
