After the recent shootings in the Moulins district between delinquents over drug trafficking-related score-settling, state and municipal authorities wanted to respond dramatically with a nighttime “visit” to this neighborhood.
Last night, the show of force with the 60 riot police officers provided by the Ministry of the Interior, following the pressing request of the mayor of Nice, seemed like a message to the troublemakers: “We will restore order in this neighborhood.”
This is good and it’s what the residents who aspire to a peaceful life expect.
However, while these trumpet blasts are always useful for setting the tone, we all know that the fight against drug trafficking (and its associated issues) remains a complex matter that requires deep and continuous action.
It is carried out daily, and even better in discretion, and its effectiveness is measured over time.
