The association “Racines du Pays Niรงois” organized its second monthly “Cafรฉ NissART.” On this occasion, the Nissart professor and France Bleu Azur columnist, Patrice Arnaudo, spoke on the theme of “sport in Nice as a factor of unity and identification.”
Like Basque, Breton, or Corsican, “Nissart” represents a true identity movement. It forges special ties with sports, notably football, pรฉtanque, and the typical game of pilou.
Through the OGC Nice club and its anthem “Nissa la bella,” this regional language benefits from visibility in the European Cup to promote itself. It is a way to open up to the outside world but especially to attract the youth. Indeed, “Nissart” remains the most chosen option today by young people from Nice, 300 to 400, in the Academy.
Sports are not the only vector of identification: there is culture, literature, music, but also the carnival. These various themes will be discussed at future meetings, always at the cultural space “La Passerelle.” The next one will be held there on March 22.
