The Municipal Council has approved the establishment of a Committee for the Memory of the victims of July 14, 2016, and the support of their families.
Upon the families’ request, the Committee has decided to create a temporary memorial that will include the names, ages, and nationalities of the 86 victims, pending the creation of the definitive Memorial. The location of this memorial will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, the organization of a commemoration day in tribute to the victims of the attack on July 14, 2017, will take place in several phases throughout the day.
This commemorative day aims to pay tribute to the victims of the attacks, to acknowledge the dedication of public health, rescue, and security services, as well as the heroes, witnesses, and anonymous individuals who assisted the victims and their families.
This day will allow citizens to be active participants in the Memory and Renewal of the City of Nice, sending a strong message to the world rooted in the fundamental values of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, and Peace.
Moreover, the families request that municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes refrain from organizing fireworks displays on the evening of July 14.
Additionally, all spontaneous initiatives will be submitted to the Committee for the Memory of the victims.
