The city hall of Nice did not authorize the installation of the “Islamic finance” sign for the company Noorassur at its premises located at the port of Nice.
When approached for an emergency ruling by Noorassur, the Administrative Tribunal determined that “the decision [of the city of Nice] does not hinder the professional activity of Noor Nice Conseil et Finances.”
In a statement, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, expressed satisfaction with this decision. “The terminology of this sign, Islamic Finance, clearly represents an expression of communalism that the city refuses.”
The matter is not over. The administrative tribunal of Nice is still handling the annulment appeal filed as a substantive challenge against the town’s decision.
