For the second consecutive year, the Luna Park Christmas fair has been canceled, to make way this year for a vaccination center.
This news followed the announcement of the opening of the third booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, which has been available since Saturday, November 27.
The city of Nice has announced its goal to carry out 6,000 injections per day. To achieve this, it plans to requisition the exhibition hall to turn it into a vaccination center starting Wednesday, December 1.
Véronique Borré, the head of the metropolitan vaccination campaign, stated that “the health concern is more important than amusement,” while more than twenty municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes currently have an incidence rate higher than 500 (500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
Alternatives were considered to relocate Luna Park, such as the MIN or the Charles-Ehrmann stadium, but none of these places could accommodate the approximately 130 rides.
