Out of the six athletes in total, two athletes from the Alpes-Maritimes were present on the different fields of the Paralympic Games today: Christophe Carlier and David Smetanine. Here is a recap of their results.

Para-swimmingย

David Smetanine did not qualify for the final of the 200m freestyle at the Paralympic Games. This Tuesday, the Antibes native finished in fifth place in his heat, clocking in at 3’15″32. This time, the tenth overall, denied him a spot in the final, reserved for the top eight swimmers. Nearly 50 years old, Smetanine is participating in his sixth Paralympic Games. His determination remains intact despite this new disappointment, following an elimination in the 100m freestyle S4 heats on August 30th. He has one last chance to shine on Friday during the 50m freestyle.

Wheelchair basketballย

Christophe Carlier and the French wheelchair basketball team suffered another defeat. Their fourth in as many games. Against the Americans in the quarter-finals, they faced a crushing defeat, losing heavily with a score of 82 to 47. Now, the focus for the French team shifts to securing a place of honor. On Thursday at 10:30 AM, they will try to bounce back against the Netherlands in the first of two ranking matches. A hope? To clinch a fifth place.
