Estrosi was indeed the only candidate for the presidency of the Republicans 06, from which he was re-elected as the president of the Alpes-Maritimes Federation, a position he has held since 2002.
Due to the lack of suspense, only 39.8%, or 4,055 out of the 12,500 members, voted online. Another indicator might suggest that the number of registered members is inflated for internal power reasons, at the local level between the various baronies, and at the national level due to competition among departmental federations.
The vote yielded the following result: 80.38% of the votes cast went to Christian Estrosi, while the rest voted blank (?). A high total, indicative of the current tensions dividing the party.
Between Eric Ciotti and Christian Estrosi, the situation is no longer in good humor, even if appearances remain intact between these two seasoned professionals in the political world.
Let us recall that while the departmental president is elected by registered members, the secretary is appointed by the national president Nicolas Sarkozy: And in the Alpes-Maritimes, his name is Eric Ciotti.
During the USSR era, the Communist Party was similarly organized in terms of power in the Republics and regions (oblast): the Party secretary was the expression of the local nomenklatura, the number 2 was appointed by the national leadership.
Is it necessary to wonder who had the ear of the boss?
