Nice-Premium: Where will Nux Vomica be on Thursday, 21st June for the Fête de la Musique?
Louis Pastorelli: On the 21st, we’ll each do our own thing.
Vincent will be at friends’, Louis will swing by “Ma cave” in St Roch,
Manu will likely attend all the concerts happening in Nice,
Djé will be preparing his music show “Raggapéro” on Frequence K,
Xavier will be playing the fife throughout Vésubie, and Patrice will be playing jazz.
On Thursday, we’re going to have fun!
NP: Tell us about your first Fête de la Musique.
LP: Our first festival? In Old Nice in 1994, near Place Rossetti.
People were surprised to hear us singing in Niçois, we partied
very late.
Our hit was “plou plou la galina,” we were all happy to see
people singing along with us. Recently, during a “Mourra” evening in
Ilonse, we met colleagues who still remembered that
“memorable” moment.
NP: What would be your dream concert?
LP: First, it would be just being programmed here more often, but
that would require a cultural willingness and venues
dedicated to music. Since we’ve been around, the city council and the general council
have never bought a concert from us although we have an audience,
when you see the money spent, you think there could be more
consideration for Niçoise popular culture; that said, if I dreamed—I fantasized,
I would like to participate in a carnival that would take place throughout the city
at the same time, a carnival created, realized by all the Niçois where the whole city
would stop for 3 days just to celebrate Carnival with music and joy in every street and Nux Vomica right in the middle of it all—or just simply do a great big concert with Moussu T.
NP: What advice do you have for our readers to celebrate music on Saturday in Nice?
LP: To readers, I advise you to really celebrate the music,
meaning MAKE MUSIC, it’s up to you Thursday evening to try with
your friends, your neighbors, the important part is not just to listen, it’s also to
participate—You have one evening to try (it’s not a lot) so
go for it!
NP: What’s the news with Nux Vomica?
LP: On the 23rd of June in Béziers, the 24th in Turin, at Rodez for the Estivadas, at the Tarante festival in Puglia near Lecce, but as it’s not next door, we hope to meet our audience again at the Port Festival in
Nice on September 8th, 2007.
