Nux Vomica for a World No Tobacco Day in Nice

Latest News

This Tuesday, May 31st from 2 p.m., the ORL Vie Nouvelle Association, in partnership with the Antoine-Lacassagne Center, is organizing an afternoon of tobacco prevention, followed by a charity concert by the Nice-based band, Nux Vomica.

nux_vomica.jpg In France, the number of deaths related to tobacco is estimated at 60,000, of which 37,000 are from cancer (InVS data, 2009). Smoking is implicated in lung cancers as well as cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract (mouth, larynx, pharynx, esophagus), bladder, and pancreas, not to mention cancers of the urinary tract, kidney, stomach, cervix, and some leukemias.

Secondhand smoke is also highly dangerous. It increases the risks of sudden infant death syndrome and respiratory infections (especially for children).

This is why it is necessary to mobilize, raise awareness, and inform people, especially the younger ones, to end this scourge.

All concert attendees will pledge not to smoke โ€œat leastโ€ during the concert.

The profits will be donated to cancer research.
