The Federal Occitan Republic is celebrating the Occitan National Day this Saturday, the 17th, at 11 a.m. at the Boutaù stone at 7, Place de la Liberté in Levens (on the occasion of the 6th Boutaù Fest), in honor of the Occitan nation stretching from Nice to Bordeaux and from Limousin to the Pyrenees.
The Republic of Nice is also joining this national event.
It will be represented by its president Cristòu Daurore, who wishes for the residents of the Republic of Nice to become aware that we belong to this great family of the Occitan language, thanks to the Nissart and Alpine dialects.
It is the Val d’Aran (an Occitan enclave of 10,000 inhabitants located in Catalonia) that established this national holiday to honor the establishment of their semi-autonomous government in 1990, where the Occitan language is co-official, a unique status throughout the entire Occitania.
