Eric Ciotti presented the report on the requests received and the assistance provided to date by the Department, as part of the emergency aid fund that has been in place since October 2015.
Recap of the facts
On the night of October 3 to 4, 2015, unprecedentedly violent storms hit the Alpes-Maritimes. 20 people lost their lives. Thousands of victims lost their homes, vehicles, belongings, or were left without electricity. Damage to infrastructure and businesses is estimated at more than 800 million euros.
The Department’s response
Faced with this disaster and its grave toll, the Department mobilized significantly.
A mobilization of the Department extended throughout its entire territory:
By undertaking significant work on departmental property (amounting to 3.6 million euros for our roads, middle schools, departmental natural parks, DFCI tracks – forest fire protection…);
By allocating 20 million euros to support individuals, businesses, and municipalities.
The following have thus benefitted from departmental aid:
3,134 households (5,758 adults and 2,527 children) to the tune of 989,500 euros;
289 businesses for nearly 1.2 million euros;
14 municipalities received advances totaling 1.68 million euros, released on October 19, 2015, and later confirmed by the permanent commission’s vote on December 21, 2015, for an additional 7.6 million euros.
