The president of the OGC Nice endowment fund committed herself from October 12 to 24 in a 100% female rally: “the Trophée Roses des Sables”. Today, October 13, marks the official start.
Valérie Rivère and her teammate Bérengère Chignon are ready. After arriving at the “village départ” yesterday, it is time for them to embark on this solidarity race that supports “children without pain”. This program aids around twenty associations that work for children affected by debilitating diseases or who are hospitalized.
Their crew, “Rose de Nice,” will set off on October 15 in the Moroccan desert for more than 5000 km to travel. Before that, they must reach the south of Spain in Algeciras by tomorrow and then take a boat across the Strait of Gibraltar. This first stage will mark the beginning of their race, which excludes any notion of speed. The primary goal is to reach the endpoint of the day’s stage, equipped only with a roadbook and a compass.
In addition to being a rich human adventure, it allows them to work for a good cause.
