Beyond the 2-1 victory and securing their place, the Nice club successfully ended their season with activities for young and old alike. The highlight of the evening was the autograph session with nearly 50 former players.
Smiles, photos, memories to cherish. The OGC Nice supporters will have plenty after this Saturday, the last game of the season at the Allianz Riviera. Around the match, before and especially after, the club pulled out all the stops with an abundance of activities, meetings, and games for everyone.
The day started close to five hours before the kickoff of the Nice-Lens match, near the National Sports Museum. On the lawns in front of the museum, the atmosphere was like a playground with several foosball tables set up for intense matches. For others, there was a radar shooting introduction—a curiosity especially for the little ones to find out the speed of their kick. Even rarer still, there were two graffiti stands supervised by professionals with the creation, over several hours, of a special 110th-anniversary graffiti. Not to forget the last autograph session at the Café des Aiglons with the attendance of the famous Nice goalkeeper Bruno Valencony.
“It’s great to come to the match well before kickoff and enjoy the activities. My favorite workshop: the radar shooting. I find it awesome to know the power of the shot,” says Bastien.
A few minutes after the Aiglons’ narrow victory, everyone gathered below the Allianz Riviera for further festivities with a concert by the group Again on the lawn. But the main attraction took place inside the Sports Museum, where long tables were set up for a large autograph session with nearly 50 former players. Among them were Marco Molitor, Everson, Eric Cubilier, Dario Grava, Grégory Paisley, and many others. The club’s official website reports 2,500 people present to collect photos and autographs. In a word: a success.
“It’s rare to gather so many great former players. The idea is truly fabulous. It makes for lovely memories,” says Gérard.
And since everything had been planned well in advance, shuttles were available until 1 a.m. to take all the supporters back to their vehicles in the nearby parking lots. The grand 110th-anniversary celebration ended beautifully. See you in early August for the next Ligue 1 season and also in 10 years for the 120th anniversary of the Gym.
