The new Nice goalkeeper made his entrance into the competition in the most impressive way.
An absolute mainstay of his team, Kasper Schmeichel was, of course, the starting goalkeeper for Denmark in their first match against Tunisia.
Just like his Welsh teammate Aaron Ramsey, Schmeichel also stood out in his first match. Even though he wasn’t too troubled during the game, he saved his team with a magnificent save on Jebali’s shot, the only on-target attempt by the Carthage Eagles. OGC Nice wanted to pay tribute to the goalkeeper by posting pictures of this superb action.
The match ended in a goalless draw of 0-0. While Schmeichel’s teammates didn’t manage to score a goal, the former Leicester player secured his first clean sheet in the competition.
The next appointment for the Nice goalkeeper is scheduled for Saturday at 5 PM against… the French national team.
