OGC Nice: Aaron Ramsey should re-sign

Latest News

Having arrived last August in Nice, the Welsh star is set to automatically extend his contract with the club from the French Riviera.

After wearing the jerseys of Arsenal, Juventus, and the Rangers, the Welsh international with 80 caps (20 goals) surprisingly signed with OGC Nice this summer.

Scoring in his first appearance in red and black against Toulouse, the former Gunner started his journey on the French Riviera perfectly. Unfortunately for Ramsey, an injury in early September kept him off the field for a few weeks. Fit for the World Cup, the native of Caerphilly flew to Qatar with his team, but they failed to advance past the group stage, similar to Kasper Schmeichel. However, unlike the Danish goalkeeper who was present at the restart, the midfielder was absent for several days without explanation. This situation, revealed in L’Équipe, naturally raised questions about his motivation and future in Nice.

After several tumultuous weeks, notably marked by the dismissal of Lucien Favre, Ramsey eventually rejoined the group, “starting from scratch, to focus on the second half of the season”. With Didier Digard taking over as Nice’s coach, the 32-year-old player quickly established himself as a starter. His contract reportedly includes an option for automatic extension based on the number of matches played. If he maintains his status in the team and remains injury-free, “Rambo” could extend his story with the Gym for another season.
