OGC Nice: An interest in an Italian talent?

Latest News

According to an Italian media outlet, the Gym might have a Serie A forward in its sights for the upcoming summer transfer window.

It’s the pure player FCInterNews, specializing in the news of the club Inter Milan, that released this information on Tuesday: OGC Nice is closely following an Inter striker.
The player in question is the 22-year-old Andrea Pinamonti, whom the Gym would like to sign.
Hailed as a real hope for the Milanese club when he signed his professional contract in 2018, the striker has only played 19 matches in the blue and black colors with just one goal scored.

Overshadowed by several renowned top strikers, Pinamonti has had multiple loan spells in Serie A while always keeping his number 99 on his back.
First at Frosinone (27 matches for 5 goals and 3 assists) in 2018/2019, then at Genoa in 2019/2020 (34 matches for 7 goals and 3 assists), and this season at Empoli where he is already having the best professional season of his career with currently 9 goals and one assist in 26 matches.
Though never selected for the senior Italian national team, he has played in all the youth categories of the Azzurri, scoring a total of 25 goals in 69 matches.

Now let’s look at the profile of this player. Andrea Pinamonti is what is known as a “pure nine” and can only play as a center forward. Good with both feet, he is primarily a very good finisher, easily completing first-intention actions without needing to control the ball. He is also an exceptional penalty taker with 15 converted and only one missed (in his youth and professional career).
The main drawback of the young striker is that he needs to be put in good situations to score. Standing at 1.85 meters tall and despite good technique in front of the goal, he is not among the players who can eliminate an entire defense and cover the field without losing possession.

The reference site Transfermarkt estimates Pinamonti’s price at 16 million euros. This would represent a significant investment for the Azurian club if it decides to act. It can be imagined that only the departure of another striker would allow for the arrival of the Inter player. Naturally, thoughts turn to Kasper Dolberg, whose performances have not been fantastic this season and whose value remains quite high.
However, even if the Danish striker were to leave, the Gym is not certain to replace him with Pinamonti since the Italian is being tracked by several clubs from his championship: Sassuolo and Torino.
