Throughout the season, around ten young athletes with mental disabilities, who are welcomed at the IME Henri Wallon, will be “coached” by the U17 team of the Gym.

With one training session per month, the first of which took place this Wednesday at the Plaine complex, they will be able to improve their football skills while sharing afternoons of genuine good humor with Emerse Faรฉ’s protรฉgรฉs. A coach involved in the civic engagement of his players, like all components of the club.

Through this innovative program, OGC Nice and CDSA 06 hope “to use football and its universal values to encourage young people with mental disabilities to regularly practice a sport – which is not currently the case – and to advocate for the importance of ‘Adapted Sport’ in the ordinary environment, knowing that mental disability is not accepted but just tolerated,” says Michel Manceau, President of the CDSA 06.

To accompany and encourage them, they can count on two distinguished sponsors: Vincent Marcel and Arnaud Lusamba. Two patrons who will be able to provide them with the right guidance to consistently progress and reach their full potential.

This new civic program is part of the numerous solidarity actions undertaken by OGC Nice as part of its “Childhood” and “Community” commitments.

And more specifically, those involving its U17 team, which confirm that civic engagement is part of the club’s identity.

“Besides the sporting aspect, OGC Nice has an important social role,” assures Jean-Pierre Rivรจre. “Victories on the field are crucial, but battles in daily life are vital. Through our actions, we want to assist children and parents in their everyday lives. Fight with them and for them. It is a pride and a mission that we intend to continue with determination.”
