Without a doubt, Nice’s darling child, Alexy Bosetti, is the revelation at the start of the season. Scoring three goals, all at home, he has twice secured victory for OGC Nice. Freed by his contract extension signed at the beginning of August, “La Bosette” is shaking up the lineup in the red and black team.
โThe Weasel,โ that’s how Claude Puel named Alexy Bosetti following the 1-0 victory this Saturday against Metz. Scoring at the end of stoppage time, he crushed Metz who would have deserved a draw. In the 94th minute, Nice’s number 23 took a moment to get up after a contact in the box seconds earlier and then saw Guido Milan, FC Metz’s defender, make a backward pass. What followed is clear, he intercepted the ball, dribbled past the Grenats’ replacement goalkeeper, and shot into the empty net. Joy for the entire stadium!
โEven though he still lacks some composure far from the goal, in the last 20 meters, he’s always lurking. Alexy is always dangerous in the penalty area, he’s cunning,โ noted OGC Nice’s coach Claude Puel in the press conference.
The Nice forward isn’t new to this success this season as he had given OGC Nice victory in the first match against Toulouse (3-2). From a cross by Grรฉgoire Puel, he headed the ball into the top corner. Then it was against Bordeaux that Bosetti opened the scoring with a stunning right-footed shot that deceived Cรฉdric Carrasso. That goal wasn’t enough, as Nice fell 1-3. This Saturday night he gave 3 unexpected points to his team, now ranking 11th with 7 points.
โWe didn’t have this kind of success last season. Tonight (Saturday), we found a victory with some luck and these three points are good for the club, the team, and our fans,โ analyzed Alexy Bosetti in the mixed zone.
Voted Player of the Month by OGC Nice supporters, the Niรงois confirms his current good form and ranks second in the scorers’ chart behind the unshakable Zlatan Ibrahimovic. After Dario Cvitanich’s calf injury last Saturday against Metz, Alexy Bosetti should enjoy significant game time in the coming weeks, enough to improve already excellent statistics after five weeks of competition. The contract extension with his beloved club, signed at the start of August, is certainly no coincidence in the young 21-year-old striker’s success.
