For their return, OGC Nice Côte d’Azur Handball is traveling to Loire Atlantique to challenge Nantes in the semi-final of the French Cup. Following that, it will be the same match, at Charles Erhmann, in the LBE playoffs.
Rejuvenation goal for the Gym, which wants to erase its sad series of four consecutive defeats in the LBE playoffs. Before the trip to Nantes, Marjan Kolev’s players trained during the week to gain confidence.
Double Goal in Sight
The best-case scenario for OGC Nice would be to reach the French Cup final and bounce back in the championship. This is certainly in the plans of the coach, Marjan Kolev: “It is clear that we would like to achieve this double objective. Anything can happen in handball, we have to keep believing, and we will do everything to break our bad series in the playoffs and rebound.” explains the Aiglonnes’ coach, highlighting the solid performance of the Niçoises during this very peculiar post-Covid season. “For me, this season is one of the most successful. Despite a bad start, we managed to climb back up and have had an exceptional journey as well as an encouraging performance.”
As a reminder, OGC Nice was 12th in the standings at the beginning of the season, then the Azuréennes climbed to 5th place, which allowed them to secure a ticket for the LBE playoffs.
“Achieve the Best Possible Result”
Even if the results are not in their favor, the play of the Niçoises remains impressive. Against big teams like Metz, Brest, or Paris 92, OGC Nice has proven its qualities, given some of the close scores. “We know what we are capable of. Despite the defeats and injuries, the game we produce can only instill confidence. We are going to do everything possible to achieve the best possible result. By staying united, we can deliver good performances.” explains Marie Prouvensier, right wing of the Gym.
In any case, the Niçoises, united in this post-Covid season, are aiming even higher. And it all starts with two matches against this same team from Nantes, this Saturday in the French Cup and next Wednesday in the playoffs.
