OGC Nice defender, Dante, has recently obtained his UEFA Pro license. This diploma, awarded by UEFA, allows him to hold the most important positions within a professional club.

It’s now official, Claude Puel is no longer the only man in the locker room who can be called “coach.” OGC Nice defender Dante has just obtained his UEFA Pro license. This qualification allows him to work as a coach or sporting director within a professional club, in France or abroad. Altogether, the Brazilian undertook a training program spanning 7 years, starting in 2019.

At a press conference, the player explained the reasons that motivated him to start the training: “When I started studying, my initial goal was to help those around me grow, both personally and professionally.” For his part, Claude Puel reacted humorously to the news: “He’s just obtained his UEFA license; I don’t know if I should be a little scared.”

Towards a Future on the OGC Nice Bench?

Now graduated and playing his final season, the defender has naturally been asked about the possibility of one day coaching OGC Nice. “It is logical to one day coach Nice, it’s the club where I’ve spent the most years, where I’ve played the most matches.” However, the captain of OGC Nice doesn’t want to rush things: ā€œI shouldn’t tell myself, we’ve played, so I must start coaching right away. There is still a step to be taken.ā€

Like Dante, former French internationals Yohan Cabaye and GaĆ«l Clichy, respectively sporting director of PSG’s youth academy and a coach at SM Caen in National, have also obtained their UEFA Pro license. The former Borussia Dortmund player and current Basaksehir coach in Turkey, Nuri Şahin, has also achieved this license.
