OGC Nice – Eric Mouloungui: “I am capable of more”

Latest News

Roger Ricort said of Eric Mouloungui upon his arrival at the club “that he would make the Gym win, thanks to his speed and his percussion quality.” Only destiny struck him. Harshly. An injury and the loss of his sister prevented him from getting off to a good start. But the young man is mentally strong and has since shown that Roger Ricort found the right words. Helped by the absence of Loic Rémy, who has been injured for five games, the Gabonese player was able to play in the center where he proved his abilities.

jpg_mouloungui.jpgNice-Premium: What do you take away from the victory (1-0) against Saint-Etienne last weekend?

Eric Mouloungui: First of all, the three points which are very important for our survival. Then the defensive solidity shown by the whole team which allowed us to maintain the score. Especially in a context that was very difficult from a climatic point of view.

N-P: Grenoble is coming to Ray on Saturday. An opportunity to extend a beautiful series of eight games without defeat in Ligue 1?

E.M.: Every match is difficult in this league. This weekend, the main goal will be the three points which can allow us to continue our progress. Moreover, it is very important to keep this form because it motivates us to work even harder to continue like this.

N-P: Everyone talks about survival but with 28 points in fifteen games, it’s almost done, right? Don’t you want to dream higher?

E.M.: We are off to a good start, that’s true. But as long as we don’t have the points to secure our survival, we don’t think about anything else. We are not dreaming. It is a good thing to be so well ranked but the most important thing is not yet achieved. So we focus on the main thing, the points. We need to secure survival first.

N-P: On a personal level, you’ve already scored three goals. Satisfied?

E.M.: For now, it’s okay. But I know that I am capable of doing more. I really don’t want to stop there. Three goals is not an end in itself. I still have to score decisive goals to help the team.
