OGC Nice – FC Metz (1-0): Post-match Reactions

Latest News

At the end of a dull match with a crazy scenario and this goal from Alexy Bosetti in the 94th minute, Nice wins by the smallest of margins (1-0). Find the press conference reactions from Claude Puel, Alexy Bosetti, and Albert Cartier, coach of FC Metz.

Claude Puel (coach of OGC Nice): “Scoring in the last minute is a special scenario, it favors us and feels good. In this game, we lacked quality, control, and the very poor pitch didn’t help us; I am concerned about the future (the condition of the field). The 3-5-2 system gives us more offensive density; we need to work on it and refine it over time. Alexy (Bosetti) is a clever player, he’s always on the lookout in the last 20 meters. He gains maturity with each game, which is very positive.”

Alexy Bosetti (OGC Nice forward, only scorer this Saturday night): “If the coach says I’m a ferret, I like it. For the goal, I was jostled a bit before in the box, it took me some time to reposition myself. I saw they were making many back passes, they made one too many, and I took advantage of it. It was far from being a great match, but we really went out and got this victory.”

Albert Cartier (coach of FC Metz): “I don’t like blaming a single player, I always maintain a collective mindset. For me, the real mistakes are the ones we don’t correct. I hope this situation will be a lesson for the rest of the season. Ligue 1 is unforgiving, I need a group that listens to progress. It was a chopped-up game, unpleasant to watch, with many fouls on both sides. It’s a shame; we could have secured a point.”
