Selected by the coach Sylvain Ripoll to play in the qualifications for the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the players from Nice have once again shown their exceptional skills.
Amine Gouiri and Khephren Thuram had already impressed during the first match of this international break against Serbia U21, by scoring the only two goals of the match.
After this victory, the Aiglons followed the national team to Armenia to play the penultimate qualifying match. The U21 team largely dominated their opponent, winning the game with a score of 4-1. Gouiri scored again, but this time from a penalty.
Yesterday was the final match of these qualifications, and the Aiglons once again challenged their opponent. Although France did not come out victorious in this match against Ukraine (3-3), our two promising players from Nice each scored a goal again. It was a player from Rennes who set up our players from the Côte d’Azur during this match, delivering the decisive pass.
It was the left-back Adrien Truffert who, after a good run down the wing, calmly set up Thuram to score the second goal for the team.
The Breton did it again in the 25th minute, still on his left side, he served Gouiri in the middle. The former Lyon player took his chance, opening up his foot and scoring the third goal for the team.
