Everyone is pleased that OGCN has saved its skin and we congratulate all the players who contributed to this. It is an important result with great strategic value: relegation to Ligue 2 would certainly have created a bleak situation and the club would have suffered greatly in its immediate future. That being said, let’s be satisfied while waiting for better.
As for the statements by the mayor of Nice, they seem somewhat off-topic to us. Claiming that the 17th place and first non-relegation spot represents “a great season.” Isn’t that a bit excessive? Okay for the congratulations, but if it’s so great, why not a street parade too?
We therefore allow ourselves to oppose this (false) idea that might suggest that it is the (beautiful) stadiums that make for good results instead of the players and their qualities. If that were the case… What surprises we would have in the records of national and international football!!!
Certainly, the future Stadium will be a place where we can better attend matches and will bring a plus to the club’s finances. However, to have a club that matches the hopes and passion of the people of Nice, including the mayor, all this will not be enough and much more will be needed.
So until then and even afterward, it will be better to keep a cool head and feet on the ground to avoid confusing mediocrity with excellence.
