This Sunday, the Gym hosted PSG to conclude the 7th day of Ligue 1. With a strong performance, the Nice team earned a point against the Parisians.
Bouncing back right before the international break! OGC Nice hosted the leader, three days after receiving a thrashing from Lazio (1-4). With this match, Franck Haise’s men ended an intense marathon of five matches played in just over three weeks.
Regarding the lineup, as expected, Mohamed-Ali Cho and Tanguy Ndombele returned to Franck Haise’s system. Ali Abdi also reclaimed his position as the left wing-back in this game plan.
The Eaglets Rise to the Occasion
From the very first minutes, the Gym pressed high to challenge the Parisians as much as possible. Mohamed-Ali came close to scoring. However, Donnarumma made a brilliant save. On the defensive side, Youssouf Ndayishimiye assisted Marcin Bulka on his line, after a fine run by Barcola.
The Nice goalkeeper then showcased his agility to deflect a half-volley from Mendes. During a dominant Parisian spell, it was ultimately OGC Nice that opened the scoring. After a ball was cleared following a corner, Ali Abdi executed an impressive sequence. His shot, deflected, ended up in the opposing net (1-0). His first goal in the red and black colors! The Eaglets held their ground against the Ligue 1 leader.
The Gym Caught Shortly After the Break
Right at the start of the second half, PSG got back into the match. Following a corner, Nuno Mendes scored the equalizer for the Parisians (1-1). Adopting a different game style, the Eaglets endured more pressure and counterattacked in this second phase.
OGC Nice could rely on an outstanding Marcin Bulka in goal. The Polish keeper was ever-present throughout the match. Displaying strong teamwork, the Nice players worked hard to preserve this valuable draw. The Parisians could not find a break against this solid block. With a good performance, the Gym earned a significant point against the reigning French champions.
Now itโs time for the international break. The Eaglets will return on October 20th. OGC Nice will visit Nantes as part of the 8th day of Ligue 1. The match will kick off at 5 PM.
