OGC Nice is getting a makeover.

Latest News

After five matches without victories, Eric Roy’s men owed their fans a reaction. Well aided by Cavalli’s exclusion, the Gym took the lead in the final minutes against Ajaccio. The score is large, but the approach still needs work. No matter, the “Aiglons” secured their first win in Ligue 1 this season.

It took a stroke of luck for OGC Nice to take the lead over newcomer Ajaccio in a match within their reach!

Just before the break, Johan Cavalli acted as a goalkeeper on his line, preventing a ball from shaking Guillermo Ochoa’s net. The Corsican midfielder was rightly sent off by referee Fredy Fautrel.

The second legitimate sanction for this type of action did not delay: Argentine Fabian Monzon converted the penalty. Recruited this summer, the Nice left-back also scored his first goal in Ligue 1.

The Niçois manage

However, this opening goal, paired with a red card, did not entirely alter the course of the match.

The Niçois managed their advantage and played evenly with a courageous Corsican newcomer. But due to a defensive error, Eric Roy’s men had to rely on their post to thwart Ajaccio’s hopes of equalizing (56th minute).

Five minutes of happiness

But goodwill does not do everything. Tired, Olivier Pantaloni’s men conceded more and more space.

Then came those famous last five minutes, when Pierazzi tripped Monzon in the penalty area. Confident after his successful penalty at the 45th minute, the Argentine did it again. In two attempts. Due to an opponent a bit eager to finish, apparently.

Finally, Renato Civelli closed the hostilities in injury time by heading in a cross from Mouloungui. 3-0: Nice moves out of the danger zone and regains its fighting spirit.
