The OGC Nice 2023/2024 Ligue season begins this Friday night. The red and blacks will host Lille in the championship opener. This Wednesday, Francesco Farioli and captain Dante were present for the traditional pre-match conference.
Less than a week after completing their preparation with a defeat against Fiorentina, OGC Nice now faces a more serious challenge this weekend. It’s time for Ligue 1, and a great fixture to start with as the Aiglons host Lille’s Dogues this Friday night in the championship opener.
“The goal will not be to concede as few goals as possible, but to score one more than the opponent.”
Francesco Farioli, OGC Nice coach
Boudaoui uncertain, Claude-Maurice out
The Italian coach took this press conference as an opportunity to update on his squad. He confirmed the absence of Alexis Claude-Maurice, who has a calf injury, and Antoine Mendy, who is sidelined following knee surgery. Absent from the last two preparation matches, Hicham Boudaoui might return to the squad. “There is a good possibility he will be in the squad on Friday. He trained lightly today” (Wednesday Editor’s note), explained Francesco Farioli concerning him.
LOSC also has absentees
On their side, Lille comes from a rather successful preparation. They have three victories (against Dunkerque, Le Havre, and Cercle Bruges), one draw (against Brentford), and one defeat (against Empoli) in five matches. LOSC’s coach, Paulo Fonseca, is also dealing with absences in his squad. “Samuel Umtiti, Adam Ounas, and Tiago Djalo are in the infirmary. They will not be available for the Nice match“, the Portuguese confirmed in the press conference this Thursday.
Join us tomorrow night at 9 PM at the Allianz Riviera for the first clash of this new Ligue 1 season between OGC Nice and LOSC.
