Losses and Matches
OGC Nice fans truly deserve credit for continuing to support their team. Once again, the Eagles lost at home, this time to Toulouse.
Johan Elmander was the executioner of the Nice citizens who had made considerable attempts during this new match day. The striker from the cold took advantage of yet another loss of the ball by Gym’s players in midfield, much to the despair of the club supporters who had nevertheless regained their voice.
The Eagles had actually started the match well. Baki Konรฉ was brought down in the box in the 3rd minute, and the referee, without any hesitation, pointed to the penalty spot. Lilian Laslandes took the shot but, unfortunately, missed his first attempt at Stade du Ray. The rest of the game was just a slow descent into hell.
Once again, the match slipped away from the players of the soon-to-be-ex-president Cohen. There were as many chances for GYM to equalize as there were for TFC to increase their lead through Elmander, Emana, or Mansarรฉ.
The current situation is straightforward: OGC Nice will cross a zone of severe disturbance, but who will be the co-pilot in command?
Resignation Accomplished
Maurice Cohen is no longer the president of OGC Nice. He announced his resignation to the press following the defeat of his โex-clubโ against Toulouse.
He shared that two of the club’s major shareholders, Marcel Governatori and Franck Giudicelli, wanted a change of president. Being in the minority, he decided to step down from leading GYM, handing over his position to Franck Giudicelli himself.
Maurice Cohen had been the president of the Nice club since 2002. Under his presidency, the club had returned to the elite and even experienced the joy of a final at the Stade de France – in the league cup.
