OGC Nice: Nice supporters banned from traveling to Lyon

Latest News

With the victory against Brest, the Gym is finally stringing together good results and could definitively gain confidence with a win in Lyon. But for this last match before the World Cup break, Lucien Favre’s men will have to do without their supporters.

Unlike OGC Nice, who won on their home ground against SB29, Laurent Blanc’s OL failed to bring back any points from Marseille (1-0) this Sunday. The Rhodanians will have six days to prepare for this clash against their closest competitors in the standings (Lyon 8th and Nice 9th).

Unfortunately, the Aiglons’ fans will be absent. Indeed, an order from the Rhรดne Prefecture has been issued, prohibiting “any Nice supporter or anyone behaving as such” from accessing the Groupama Stadium and the city center on the day of the match.

The prefecture explained this order due to “a strong and longstanding antagonism between the supporters of the two clubs and numerous direct confrontations.” The Bad Gones 1987, Lyon’s ultra group, will be celebrating their 35th anniversary during the match. Thus, disturbances can be avoided to ensure the proper conduct of the festivities.

OGC Nice reacted to this travel ban in a statement, describing this order as “deplorable.”
